The kit leaves the entire OEM direct injection system intact. However, it permits one additional independent 39mm fuel pump, specifically for auxiliary fuel such as port injection.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe entire OEM fuel system and its components are retained and operate exactly how BMW\/Toyota intended. The OEM brushless fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, filters, collector box, venturi jet pump and level sensor all remain in place. The Radium hanger installs alongside these components and adds a complete second fuel system for adding port injection. The fuel from this new pump is sent out of the fuel hat through a low-profile 8AN male adapter fitting.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis line must be regulated using a \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.radiumauto.com\/collections\/universal-pressure-regulators-1\"\u003efuel pressure regulator\u003c\/a\u003e (not included) and a \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.radiumauto.com\/products\/high-flow-fuel-filters\"\u003elow micron aftermarket filter\u003c\/a\u003e must be installed downstream. These components are not provided in this kit but are available separately.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe returning fuel enters the fuel hat through a low profile 6AN male fitting. Fuel enters the OEM collector basket through a machined fitting assembly. Inside the assembly features a deflector that evenly disperses the fuel and prevents turbulence and unwanted foam. The direct injection fuel feed is retained and there are no fuel tank modifications required.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePREVENTING FUEL STARVATION\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSeveral systems work together to move fuel into the collector basket and keep it full at all times. This ensures that the pumps have adequate fuel available, even during aggressive driving. The internal pumps are supplied with fuel from 3 different sources: the venturi jet pump fuel scavenged from the passive side of the tank, the returned fuel from the fuel pressure regulators (direct injection FPR and port injection FPR), and the one-way fill valve on the bottom of the OEM collector basket. A male 8AN low profile banjo fitting comes preinstalled. These serviceable connections are hermetically sealed and impervious to all standard and exotic fuels. Non conductive anodized aluminum acorn nuts are provided to prevent any accidental short circuiting. Electrical hardware is included for the fuel pumps and OEM level sender.
